Helping Speech-Language Pathologists create joyful, structured, and sustainable therapy experiences through books, games, and predictable routines.

I have been a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist for over 11 years.
Throughout my career, I have consistently seen the joy that picture books bring to children. Books create opportunities for connection, engagement, imagination, and meaningful communication. Games have also always been a staple of school-based therapy, helping students stay motivated while practicing important skills.
Like many SLPs, I spent years searching for materials, printing resources, laminating activities, organizing supplies, and rebuilding therapy plans over and over again.
Eventually, I discovered a more sustainable approach.
By pairing carefully selected books and games with a predictable therapy structure, I was able to spend less time planning and more time individualizing therapy for my students. The result was increased engagement, better organization, and meaningful progress.
Spela was created to share this system with other Speech-Language Pathologists who want a more sustainable way to plan and deliver therapy.
Picture books provide meaningful opportunities to develop speech and language skills while keeping children engaged and excited to participate.
Students thrive when therapy sessions follow predictable routines and clear expectations.
Therapists should spend more time supporting students and less time searching, printing, cutting, laminating, and organizing materials.
Meaningful progress happens when therapists, school staff, families, and students work together toward shared goals.
Choose a book and game pairing.
Identify student-specific articulation or language targets.

Use structured therapy guide activities for practice and repetition.
Encourage carryover through simple activities that extend beyond the therapy room.
Spela was created to make therapy planning simpler, more effective, and more enjoyable.
The goal is to provide Speech-Language Pathologists with practical resources, engaging therapy plans, and sustainable systems that can be used year after year.
Explore therapy plans, discover new book and game pairings, and build therapy routines that support meaningful progress.
